Plantar fasciitis is a condition that causes pain on the bottom of the foot. It is caused by inflammation of the plantar fascia, which is a band of tissue that connects your heel bone to your toes and supports your arch.
The most common symptom of plantar fasciitis is pain in the heel or bottom of the foot, usually after periods of rest or after long periods of standing. The pain may be worse with first steps in the morning, prolonged sitting or standing, and after exercise.
The most common causes of plantar fasciitis are:
– Repetitive activities that stress the plantar fascia
– Flat feet
– Obesity
– High arches
– Tight calf muscles
Plantar fasciitis is a common cause of heel pain and can be debilitating.
The key is to find the cause, the structures that are placing excessive stress on the fascia and correct these.
There are many treatments for plantar fasciitis, including non-invasive methods such as using ice packs, resting and particular stretching and strengthening exercises. However, these can be recommended once the cause is established.
On attending either our Orpington, Bromley or Virtual clinic we can establish the cause. We can treat the cause with manual therpay to settle pain and provide a suitable rehabilitation program to restore a full recovery.

We talked through my injury, explained potential diagnosis and we went through some exercises. He has also put together a rehabilitation programme. I thoroughly recommend contacting them. I will be attending again when I can fit one in so progress can be assessed.
