Trigger Point Therapy
Jon W Sports Injury therapists use trigger point therapy in their treatments. Trigger point therapy is a hands-on technique that involves applying pressure to a tender area of muscle or a ‘trigger point’.
Trigger points are areas of tenderness that cause pain. This pain may be local or referred. For example pain in the Achilles tendon may be caused by trigger points in the calf muscle.
Trigger points can be caused by overexertion, trauma and poor posture. Elimination of trigger points will remove pain, increase range of motion, circulation and co-ordination.
